What is Hardened PHP?

Hardened PHP is essentially a secure and actively maintained fork of older, unsupported PHP versions.

It's enhanced with backported security patches and safer default settings, specifically designed to keep legacy web applications running securely even after their original PHP version has reached its end-of-life

How do I know if my PHP version is vulnerable?

If you're using PHP 8.0 or older, your version has reached end of life (EOL) and no longer receives official security updates. That means known vulnerabilities may remain unpatched.

Upgrading to a supported PHP version is the best option. If that's not possible, Hardened PHP offers a secure alternative for running legacy code.

I think my code has vulnerabilities. Will using this help?

Hardened PHP secures the PHP runtime itself by patching known engine-level vulnerabilities. However, it doesn’t fix insecure application logic, outdated libraries, or poor coding practices.

If your code has its own issues, those will still need to be addressed separately.
